This pair of earrings was inspired while on a walk with my sweet dog. I saw this really cool lantern in a carport and thought that it could be made into a neat pair of earrings...I ended up talking to the women when I passed her house another day and told her about my attempt at making her lantern shape into a tiny pair of earrings, she was so happy that was an inspiration and proceeded to tell me that the lantern was made out of wood (which I thought was metal ) and a wine bottle by an artist on Vashon Island, Washington. (cool!!!) I wish I had a picture of it. Its kind of funny because I wear glasses and with my prescription out of date...when I saw what the lantern looked like up close,  it looked not so much like what I thought I saw!!! They turned out way different than the inspiration piece but I like them as well and perhaps my earrings would be a cool lantern too?? :)

Anyway. This was my first attempt at caging a stone...I loved it and made another immediately so that I wouldn't forget how I did it.  The patina is perfect and I dig that the metal stayed grey even after running through the tumbler. I used fine and sterling silver for the cage and the pretty stone is Chrysoprase.

They are 2 3/8 inches total length & 1/2 inch wide at the widest point, the  stone is 10mm.

My pictures are taken using a micro lens so the image may appear bigger than the actual piece...I took a picture of them in my hands and I do help that helps for perspective. If you need shots of them on or have other questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you so much for looking and much happiness,

~Michelle
