About Michelle
And Planet Dot Jewelry
Planet Dot Jewelry is located in beautiful Edmonds, Washington, just north of Seattle, tucked beside the waters of the Puget Sound.
My name is Michelle Mediati-Whalen, owner and creator of this small but mighty, one-woman business. I work out of my lovely light-filled, in-home studio, and I am a wife and a playful mother of two boys. I am sensitive with a distinctive raw aesthetic, which translates into all my jewelry. My long morning walks are my inspiration, it is a sort of meditation, a time to quietly think things through, a clearing. After which, I can enter my studio, calm, free of mind and clutter, ready to create, uninhibited.
The jewelry you see is not often predesigned, but is influenced by a feeling, a mood or a flash of an idea. It differs from day to day thus, each piece is one of a kind. All beautiful and special with perfect imperfections … just like us. Most of my jewelry is made from silver and bronze, metals that radiate warmth and energy. I create using traditional metalsmithing techniques and I absolutely love to experiment with not-so-traditional techniques as well.
My jewelry can be described as counter balances of raw and refined, bold and soft, reflecting my deeply sensitive nature. A stunning array of gemstones frequently find their way into my pieces of art. Every piece is individual. No design is ever repeated exactly the same. The customer is going to wear jewelry that is truly personal and one of a kind.
